I just can’t seem to get my head around the new Colombo Traffic Plan. For one thing there was absolutely no warning yesterday morning, when we were redirected the wrong way in front of the Museum and had to take an almost complete circle to get to pass Town Hall. (Thankfully that was rectified this morning). Then we were rudely turned away yesterday evening towards Dharmapala Mw. when we were trying to Gall Road. (Thankfully the police had at least enough sense and told the Bus drivers and they were on the right lane).

I did feel sorry for the person who had no idea about the interconnected roads in Town Hall/Colpety area who had to take direction from a cop every five meters.

The real question is will this new traffic plan really reduce traffic? I don’t think so. It’ll most likely waste a lot of our time going in circles. We’ll have to take the long way in front of the Library while Dharmapala Mw. stares in our face. But then again I remember the last time people were grumbling a lot about going one-way but in a couple of weeks the Traffic was reduced a lot (especially in front of Campus and RC, and Maharagama).

May be the plan will succeed.. Maybe not.. But I wish the cops at least informed the people. Well I guess the last time people were hopelessly lost even after informing I guess they just couldn’t be bothered..

Next I’m sure the cops will make Nugegoda and Havelock one way and we’ll be on our way….
